 Real Solutions to Real Issues

  • Mentoring Programs

    • Prioritize grants for mentorship targeting students who may be without role models, focusing on personal and family budgeting and finances, education, family finances, career advice, job applications, credit management, entrepreneurship and business idea development, and taxes.

    • Emphasize teaching delayed gratification, wise purchasing, saving, and long-term debt avoidance to promote long term prosperity and stability.

    • Favor School choice and technical training to address local economic disparities.

  • Housing

    • Develop affordable garden-style homes (not low-income apartments) on unused city properties, closed schools, distressed properties, or vacant malls (e.g., Northwest Mall) to encourage homeownership and community pride.

    • Reallocate HUD funds to support these projects.

    • Implement community volunteer programs using a sweat equity model to help low-income homeowners maintain properties, improving neighborhood appearance and homeowner pride.

  • Economic Development and Opportunity

    • Create Opportunity Zones to stimulate local economies and job growth.

    • Develop a “Local Up” Program to Support small business development, jobs, and strengthen communities.

  • Health Care

    • Establish accessible medical clinics near bus lines.

    • Promote health education and telemedicine to reduce strain on emergency services and expedite care.

    • Provide nutritional education to minimize current and future medical issues.

  • Public Safety and Crime

    • Increase police funding to hire new officers, relieve overworked staff who often are in dangerous first responder situations.

    • Upgrade outdated technology, including Rapid DNA systems for 90-minute DNA analysis (without a lab) to expedite investigations and unsolved cases.

    • Encourage community involvement to build trust with local communities.

  • Immigration and Citizenship

    • Streamline LEGAL immigration with transparent and clear "how-to" guides.

    • Offer citizenship mentoring, English language, U.S. history, ideals, responsibilities, and obligations to become better citizens.

    • Implement Earned Citizenship via military service (two terms) for legal residency, with an option to sponsor a non-legal family member in the United States after the second term, promoting patriotism and legal status.

  • Social Security

    • Protect Social Security and eliminate taxes on benefits to increase recipients’ income.  This prevents double taxation on earnings already subject to Social Security and income tax.

  • Medicare

    • Preserve and strengthen Medicare for current and future generations.

  • Community Infrastructure

    • Provide grants for water/sewer infrastructure upgrades with Congressional oversight to ensure proper fund allocation and prevent diversion to local political projects.

Anti-socialism:

Montiel’s story can warn against progressive policies and government overreach based on her home country of Venezuela’s quick descent from Democracy, to Socialism, to Communism.

 About Carmen Montiel

An opportunity to make a real difference and help local Houston, Harris County, and Congress at the same time with Common Sense Leadership and a positive future.

I am Carmen Maria Montiel, originally from Venezuela, but immigrated Legally and moved to Houston, a city I love and want to see proper.  I will strive relentlessly to work to improve the areas of where you live, not just go to Washington to make speeches.  I am a domestic abuse survivor and can relate to those issues to strengtth protection for women at home and in the courts.  On my own time, I have testified before Statte Legislators to correct bills to protect women in abusive situations at home and in the courts.  Family is first.
but here are city wide issues that I would like to address and rrovide real solutions through legislation and laws that directly impact Houstonian.

About Carmen (from original campaign Website)

Born in Venezuela, Carmen became a Texan by choice, migrating to the United States 33 years ago. For more than 20 years, she helped develop and grow a family-owned medical a practice in Houston where she started her family.

As a Venezuelan, Carmen was taught from childhood to place faith and family above all, and to cherish the God-given liberty and opportunity we enjoy as Americans. She has instilled these same values into her three children.

Sadly, Carmen witnessed first-hand that the country where she was born become squandered by left-wing political leaders who have dismantled society with corruption, communism, and liberalism. Once a regional economic power built on a culture of family values, Venezuela fell to the false promises of socialism. As a result of her experiences, she understands that the current direction of America could have terrible consequences for life as we know it. The extreme leftist policies currently enacted will leave our nation bankrupt and far from the values that differentiate America from other nations

Carmen’s background and experience have uniquely prepared her to represent the people of TX CD-18, a majority Hispanic and Black American district that has never had a leader that represents the core values and best interests of the community. The Hispanic and Black American cultures emphasize faith and family, and Carmen will make these the centerpieces of our society again.

Like many young women of her generation, Carmen aspired to achieve and excel in life. After years of study and hard work, in 1984, she won the Miss Venezuela and Miss South America pageants and earned Second Runner-up for Miss Universe. In that position, Carmen served as a role model and ambassador to millions of people, especially young women, who aspire to realize their dreams through hard work, personal responsibility, and individual achievement.

This led Carmen to a career in journalism, including as a TV journalist and news anchorwoman in Houston’s Hispanic media market, where she had the opportunity to listen and to give these communities the voice they previously did not have. Her role as a journalist has also rendered her a platform to make the case for conservative values, including strong borders, robust public safety, and security and opportunity for all Americans. Carmen hosts a Spanish podcast on social media to discuss current affairs, and she regularly appears on Spanish language programs making the case for conservative policies.

Carmen is the mother of three children, with whom she attends church regularly, and has volunteered and served on numerous boards in support of community-based solutions to the issues faced by the people of Houston. Carmen has a degree in Broadcast Journalism from East Tennessee State University, and she has won numerous awards for her journalist accomplishments.

Life has not been without its challenges. Carmen found herself in a difficult marriage, where she was a victim of abuse, made worse by false allegations that became public headlines. Never one to give up, Carmen fought back not only to clear her name but to also win justice for herself, for her children, and to set an example for other victims. This experience renewed Carmen’s appreciation for the constitutional rights and liberties we enjoy as Americans, rights that cannot be paralleled anywhere else in the world.

These experiences also forced Carmen to become a fighter for both her and others. As a result, Carmen has worked to host programs, workshops, and clinics that address domestic violence by building up women through self-defense skills, proactive education, and support in crisis situations.
